What Is Global Firewalk Day?
Global Firewalk Day is an annual celebration held on the first Saturday in April—in 2026, that’s April 4. On this day, instructors and communities across the planet light ceremonial fires and invite participants to walk—safely and by consent—across a prepared bed of embers.
Firewalking is practiced worldwide as a rite of passage, a test of courage and mindset, and a ceremonial way to mark change. Intense collective experiences like firewalking are powerful because they foster connection: shared focus, mutual support, and the kind of social cohesion that lasts long after the coals cool.
The idea for a coordinated global celebration was first floated at the Firewalk Gathering in Latvia (2017). Today, the intention is simple: as many safe, well-led firewalks as possible, on the same day, around the world—to raise awareness, strengthen our community, and light up the planet.
How to Participate
Join Our Western NC Hub
We’re hosting a hub event in Western North Carolina with opening circle, safety briefing, ember-bed tending, and evening walk.
Host a Satellite Fire
Certified instructors: coordinate a local walk and align your schedule with the day. We’ll share simple messaging, safety reminders, and social tags for unity.
Tell Us About Your FireSafety & Consent
Every participating firewalk should be led by trained facilitators with clear consent culture and proven protocols—from wood selection and ember raking to foot care and post-walk integration. New to Obsidian? Read how we approach safety on our Safety page.
